Covering 400 acres, the living plant museum has more than 3,500 plant species from around the world. Its collection includes native California plants, rose, cactus, herb, iris gardens as well as a subtropical fruit orchard. The model gardens include a Southwest Garden, a Woodland Garden, a Mediterranean Garden, and a turf demonstration area to compare water use of different types of turf and much more.

Parking: CSUSB Parking Services will provide complimentary “Demonstration Garden” parking permits that will be valid in any unmarked space in Parking Lot G. All visitors to the garden must stop at the Coyote Drive – Information Center (IC-2) to obtain a complimentary parking permit.
The Demonstration Garden can be a learning laboratory for the dedicated gardener, a delightful place for an afternoon stroll, or a place to gather lots of information about water-wise or Inland Empire Garden-Friendly plants while learning a little about our area’s natural history, geography and climate.

The garden showcases different grades of synthetic turf, California-friendly plants, and water-efficient irrigation systems such as drip lines and smart controllers. All trees, plants, and other materials were selected to provide year-round color and be compatible with the existing soil type. The garden is open to the public during normal working hours with self-guided tour materials available. In addition, guided tours may be scheduled.
