Calling all student artists! JCSD invites K-12 students to showcase their creativity and understanding of water use efficiency. Dive in and make a splash with your ideas.
This year’s theme for the art calendar contest is “Being Water Wise Is …” We want to see your creativity shine in telling the story of wise and efficient water use at home, school, and in our community. Let your artwork inspire others about the importance of water conservation and stewardship!
Contest Timeline:
Submission date: May 30, 2025
Winners announced: July 10, 2025
JCSD’s winner recognition meeting: July 21, 2025
MET Winner visit: December 4, 2025
MET winner recognition meeting: January 12, 2026
All art media are eligible (print, digital, 3D sculpture, etc.) and must be submitted digitally. Each of these selection criteria must be followed in order to qualify for judging by Metropolitan.
- For students who use digital notepads or drawing tablets, all artwork must be original. Do not submit artwork with traced, trademarked, or copyrighted slogans or characters (i.e. Snoopy, Sponge Bob, Dora the Explorer, etc.).
- “Being Water Wise Is … “ is the overall theme. A “short” water message may be included on the artwork (not necessarily the words of the theme/topic). The less text the better.
- Artwork may depict climate change or various conservation and waterwise use:a. inside or outside of the home or school
b. in industries or businesses
c. in the environment (nature)
d. in agriculture
e. in recreation
f. cleanliness/proper hygiene - Art with misspelled words will not be selected.
- Bold, bright, brilliant colors show up the best. Students may use the following art media: computer generated digital art, crayons, markers, pencils, paints, watercolors, chalk, cut paper or fabric.
- JCSD reserves the right to question or disqualify any artwork that is clearly not the student’s work based on their age and grade level.
The panel of judges includes local water professionals, school representatives, and community artists.
Art will be judged on:
- Theme clarity
- Neatness and quality
- Creativity and originality
